Bright Sites Launch Innovation Incubator

Supporting Emerging and Established Media Leaders to Transform Newsrooms with AI and Creative Solutions

Bright Sites is proud to announce the launch of its Innovation Incubator, a new initiative dedicated to advancing innovation in journalism by supporting established and emerging leaders.

As part of this launch, Bright Sites is offering two full scholarships for the prestigious University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) Journalism Leaders and Innovation PGCert course in 2025. This initiative will empower recipients to develop, refine, and implement groundbreaking ideas to address real newsroom challenges.

Through the innovation incubator, Bright Sites aims to foster bold thinkers and practical problem-solvers in the field of journalism. Selected recipients will work directly with Bright Sites, applying their innovative ideas to create meaningful change within their newsrooms.

Bright Sites will offer the opportunity, alongside the course, for recipients to develop their ideas with the Bright Sites team, using their industry expertise, tools, and mentorship to transform their visions into impactful newsroom solutions.

The Innovation Incubator is Bright Sites' commitment to pioneering the future of journalism.

Founder and CEO Brian Alford said: “With the launch of our Innovation Incubator, Bright Sites is encouraging forward-thinking media leaders to push the boundaries of what’s possible in journalism. We’re committed to helping them apply AI-powered solutions in practical, impactful ways that can fundamentally reshape their newsrooms. These scholarships reflect our dedication to supporting innovation at every level in the media industry. We’re looking for individuals who not only see the potential of technology but are ready to pioneer its application to overcome today’s biggest challenges in journalism.”

The two fully sponsored positions are open to professionals with a vision for using technology to solve some of journalism's most pressing issues. Interested candidates can apply through UCLan’s Journalism Leaders and Innovation website here.

About Bright Sites

We’re Bright Sites. We were founded in the newsroom with the goal of creating innovative, intuitive products that meet the demands of modern journalism.

First we made Flow, our AI-powered CMS that speeds up content creation by making smart audience-driven recommendations. Flow is now trusted by more than 200 publications and we work with each of them to ensure that it evolves and changes with their newsrooms.

Now, we’re building Pulse, which makes audience recommendations to supercharge growth.

Pulse alerts newsrooms to opportunities they’re missing and makes suggestions on how to take advantage of them.

Our predictive planning feature means that you can create content plans for events in just one click and our evergreen content tracking system will let you know when there’s an opportunity to optimise content in your archive.
